| International Festival of Experimental Art Artists from Shetland are taking part in the 7th International Festival of Experimental Art, which will take place from l8th to 27th July at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in St Petersburg, Russia. Susan Timmins and Freya Inkster are exhibiting a collaborative film work, Random Reconciliations which is an experiment in numbers, music and photographic images.

| Scottish Arts Council announces shortlist of Scotland’s inspiring ideas A site specific event combining the arts and extreme sports in Aberdeen, a 25ft high ‘Big Man’ walking through Scotland inspiring creativity among communities, and a performance by young Asian groups in Glasgow inspired by graphic novels and video games.  | The Sutherland Duo On Tour The Sutherland duo will undertake a mini-tour of the Far North, with a scintillating programme of virtuosic classical works for violin and piano, featuring composers such as Mozart, Brahms and Gershwin. Broughty Ferry pianist Christina Lawrie met violinist Harriet Mackenzie at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and they subsequently discovered shared Sutherland ancestry in the Strath of Kildonan and Strath Halladale, hence the name of the duo.

| National Theatre Of Scotland at Edinburgh International Festival 2008 The National Theatre of Scotland return to the Edinburgh International Festival, following previous successes with Realism and The Bacchae. 365 is a new work by David Harrower, directed by Vicky Featherstone about fragmented lives and young people in the care system today. 365 receives it world premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival on 22 August, followed by a run in London. | Scotland's Best Young Dancers Take Part in Project Y 2008 YDance (Scotland’s National Youth Dance Agency) has brought together twenty two of Scotland’s best young dancers for Project Y 2008 and the Company are in residence at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow from Monday 7 July. Over the following four weeks they will be working closely with guest choreographers and dance specialists on new pieces for a short Scottish tour which includes performances at Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama (Glasgow), the Brunton Theatre (Musselburgh), Eden Court (Inverness) and as part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival at The Lemon Tree (Aberdeen).

| Major Exhibition at Newly Extended Tain Gallery Brown’s Gallery, Tain, celebrates its first major exhibition in the recently extended gallery with a mixed show of new work. | Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop Wins Top Charity Award On 20th June, Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop (LFW) picked up a prestigious award at the Third Force News Scottish Charity Awards in Glasgow. | Highland 2007 Legacy Fund launched today The Highland Council has launched the Highland 2007 Legacy Programme, providing an annual fund of £500k in grants to build upon the success of Highland 2007. The programme aims to enhance and to promote the events, festivals and cultural programme of the Highlands. Community organisations, promoters, artists, performers, youth groups and schools are now being encouraged to create their own legacy of Highland 2007 and to submit their applications. 01 July 2008
