Background/Aims
Roadrunner Theatre Company is a small scale touring company taking high quality comedy, drama and music to as wide an audience as possible throughout the Highlands and Islands. Productions will be geared towards both children and adults.

Touring Summer and Autumn 2004

Roadrunner’s welcome return to the world of adult theatre brings a storming production of Debbie Isitt’s The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband , directed by the company’s Artistic Director, Ally MacLeod.

Jilted Hilary invites ex-husband, Kenneth, and new-found love, Laura, for dinner unaware of what delicacies Hilary has on the menu.

Told through a series of flashbacks, The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband is a highly entertaining exploration of jealousy, humiliation, deceit and betrayal done in Roadrunner’s trademark high-energy style.

After a very successful tour in July, Roadrunner will tour The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband again in October.

Touring Spring 2005

Roadrunner's next production 'The Forest of Toolanoo' was previewed at the Milton Forest Fayre, Easter Ross in September 2003. Aimed at the 7 - 12 year old age group the play tells the story of Spud and Leek, best pals in Toolanoo, and their almost catastrophic friendship break up.

You see, Isabella Moneybags, the rather lazy local landowner, has been swayed by the dastardly Frank R. Biscuit, businessman and entrepreneur, to cut down the beautiful Forest of Toolanoo to build a Theme Park. Leek is all for the idea but Spud fears for the animals and trees.

'Spud, just think - our very own Theme Park - we've dreamed of this,' says Leek - but Spud does everything in his power to stop the forest being destroyed - with almost disastrous consequences. In amongst all of this the people of Toolanoo are trying to get the rather lazy Isabella Moneybags to stop being so lazy so they decide to hold a talent contest for her benefit. Simon the Cakemaker plays the Silver Spoons and Olive the Origami paper folder demonstrates her paper folding skills but who will finally win the attention of Isabella Moneybags??

Will it be Frank R. Biscuit and his Theme Park Empire?? What would be your choice? Theme Park or Forest? Maybe the story of Toolanoo will help you decide.........

The show will tour Highland Primary Schools during the Spring of 2005..

Summer 2003

Roadrunner's first production 'Elsie and Norm's 'Macbeth'' by John Christopher-Wood charmed audiences from Eigg in the West to Forres in the East and several places in between throughout July 2003.

'I laughed so much my cheeks hurt,' was a frequent comment heard by satisfied audience members - as was 'When are you coming back?' much to the delight of the two actors involved.

In fact, the show was so successful there are plans to tour it again during July and August 2005.
