| Knitted Fish Auction Raises £1700 for the RNLI |

Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Art Centre on North Uist is delighted to have raised £1700 for the RNLI. The Knitted Fish Auction took place on the 5th December 2008 in Carinish Hall, North Uist, with a total of 81 knitted fish going under the hammer in aid of the RNLI's Yellow Wellie Challenge. |

The Youth Music Initiative (YMI) at the Scottish Arts Council has been developing a variety of new initiatives to offer support to young musicians who are making and performing music in an unsupervised capacity. A new demo fund has been created to allow professional studios to work with the next generation of musicians and applications are now being invited. |

| Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship |

The Scottish Arts Council and the National Library of Scotland support the Robert Louis Stevenson fellowship, which offers writers the opportunity to spend up to two months in a self-catering studio in France. Travel and accommodation are paid, plus a stipend of £1,200 per month which is awarded to successful writers for the duration of their stay. |
