As part of its promotion of the Arts in the Highland and Islands HI-Arts collects and collates information on more than 8000 events in the area every year. If you have an event that you think should be on the calendar then sign up to submit your events to the database.
 

HI-Arts currently supply event listings to a range of websites, including:

• Highland Council
• Cal Mac ferries
• Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE)
• Initiative at the Edge

We are happy to supply free events listings to your website.

Our event calendar's output can be filtered geographically to show events in a region, town or single venue.  It can even be filtered to show any of the following types of events: Music, Dance, Festivals, Literature, Visual Arts, Sport, Film/Theatre, Business.
 

The calendar can be made to appear on your own site by embedding it into your site ;- this example is taken from the CalMac website.
 

So how do you do it?
You have two options:

• You can ask your own web developer to write you the code that will produce the calendar as you want it.
• You can ask Sitekit (who created the HI-Arts system) to write the calendar code for you.

Techy bit
The calendar data is available as well formed XML from a publicly accessible web service. The best way to get the calendar is to query the web service which returns XML and then combine this with a local or remote XSL to produce the necessary HTML. Easy!
