| The Singing Gynaecologist Plays Local Hall |

Hank Wangford and Reg Meuross are playing Croy Village hall next Saturday evening 23 August as part of their “No Hall too Small Tour”. Hank is a remarkable man. Having qualified as a doctor and worked as a gynaecologist, he took to Country and Western music through his association with rock and Country stars in the 1970s. His take on the music is sly. You are never quite sure if he is takingth emickey out of the whole scene. |

Originally hailing form Inverness Scottish harp and song duo Gillian Fleetwood and Fraya Thomsen have recently been described as “two of the most exciting exponents of the Scottish Harp”. They are about to launch their debut album Tree of Strings which is the result of hard work and two very impressive music careers to date.

A Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop will be running for all interested parties on Monday 25 August 2008. The workshop runs from 6.30-9.30pm in Elgin High School, Elgin. Sports and Arts should provide a safe and fun environment for children and young people. Every week hundreds of thousands of youngsters happily and safely participate in the care of dedicated sports coaches. To ensure that good work continues in a safe environment, organisers, coaches and parents must be aware of child protection issues.

Artists from Shetland are taking part in the 7th International Festival of Experimental Art, which will take place from l8th to 27th July at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in St Petersburg, Russia. Susan Timmins and Freya Inkster are exhibiting a collaborative film work, Random Reconciliations which is an experiment in numbers, music and photographic images.

| The Sutherland Duo On Tour |

The Sutherland duo will undertake a mini-tour of the Far North, with a scintillating programme of virtuosic classical works for violin and piano, featuring composers such as Mozart, Brahms and Gershwin. Broughty Ferry pianist Christina Lawrie met violinist Harriet Mackenzie at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and they subsequently discovered shared Sutherland ancestry in the Strath of Kildonan and Strath Halladale, hence the name of the duo.
